Following Donald Trump’s recent election win, leaders across the tech industry shared their reactions, with some celebrating the outcome and others urging Americans to focus on unity and progress.
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, congratulated Trump on social media, calling it a “crystal clear mandate for change.” Musk, who financially backed Trump’s campaign with around $75 million through his America PAC, expressed optimism about the future.
Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg also extended congratulations, describing the victory as “decisive” and noting potential new opportunities for the country. Despite their rocky past—including a two-year suspension of Trump’s account following the events of January 6—Zuckerberg emphasized a forward-looking stance. Tim Cook of Apple echoed this sentiment, stating he looks forward to collaborating with Trump’s administration to “keep America leading in innovation.”
Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai called Trump’s win the start of a “golden age for American technology,” while Amazon founder Jeff Bezos praised it as an “extraordinary political comeback,” adding that he’s hopeful for the country’s future. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and OpenAI’s Sam Altman also showed support, highlighting the importance of maintaining U.S. leadership in AI and tech innovation.
Not everyone in the tech industry celebrated the victory, however. LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, a supporter of Kamala Harris, acknowledged the outcome while calling for unity and expressing hope for a stronger, more united America. Melinda Gates shared her disappointment, describing the election as a “discouraging day” for many but emphasized her commitment to social advocacy, encouraging continued progress on critical issues.
Katie Stanton, former Twitter and Google executive, also voiced her concern. While noting the “gracious and inspiring” tone of Harris’s concession speech, she urged Americans to “organize and build a better future.” Stanton is a member of VCsForKamala, a group of tech industry supporters of Harris.
Responses from the tech sector reflect a mix of enthusiasm and resolve, with leaders both celebrating Trump’s victory and calling for continued efforts toward unity, innovation, and social progress.
