President Trump recently had a tense phone call with Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen about purchasing Greenland.

Trump’s Intentions on Greenland

Trump expressed a strong interest in acquiring Greenland, citing national security and economic advantages in the Arctic. His administration has not ruled out using “military force” to achieve this goal. Danish officials firmly rejected the idea, asserting Greenland is not for sale.

Sources revealed that Trump’s phone conversation with Frederiksen was highly contentious. “It was horrendous,” one source stated, emphasizing Trump’s unwavering stance. Another source described it as “a cold shower,” noting the seriousness and potential dangers of the situation.

Danish Reaction to US Demands

The Danish government is reportedly in “crisis mode” following the conversation. Officials described the US intent as “very clear” and “utterly freaked out” by the possibility. Trump’s administration previously stated he is “100% serious” about acquiring Greenland and also revisiting control over the Panama Canal.

Trump justified his interest in Greenland due to its mineral resources and the strategic importance of the Arctic. He emphasized protecting US interests in the region while fostering potential mutual prosperity with Greenland.

Greenland’s Response

Greenland’s leader, Múte Egede, expressed openness to dialogue with the US but firmly rejected the idea of becoming part of America. Egede highlighted that Greenlanders have no interest in seeking independence from Denmark to join the United States.

To join the US, Greenlanders would first need to vote for independence and then approve becoming an American territory. Despite Trump’s assertive approach, Greenland’s leadership remains committed to maintaining its current status under Danish sovereignty.
