Trumps possible first day as President

Trump Rally Economic Boom

If re-elected, Donald Trump has laid out plans for actions he aims to initiate immediately upon entering office. Some of his promises, such as firing certain government officials and issuing executive orders, could start on “Day One” of his second term, while others will require longer implementation and Congressional involvement.

Key aspects of Trump’s agenda focus on immigration, where he has promised to build “the largest deportation force” in U.S. history and end certain immigration policies, like humanitarian parole. His plans include signing an executive order to revoke birthright citizenship, although such an order would face significant legal challenges due to the protections under the 14th Amendment. Trump has also vowed to halt what he describes as “migrant flights” and to issue orders restricting schools from teaching critical race theory and related topics.

Trump’s personnel plans involve dismissing officials like Special Counsel Jack Smith, who has overseen federal investigations into Trump, and SEC Chair Gary Gensler, who has taken positions unpopular within certain cryptocurrency communities. Trump has also pledged to issue pardons for some individuals involved in the January 6 Capitol riots, stating that he would evaluate their cases as early as his first day in office.

However, certain pledges, such as his claim to “end inflation” on the first day, are beyond immediate executive control. Inflation is largely managed by the Federal Reserve, which operates independently of direct presidential influence. Economists also caution that Trump’s suggested tariffs might actually contribute to increased prices.
