On Wednesday morning, former President Donald Trump praised Tesla CEO Elon Musk as he drew closer to returning to the White House.
“We have a new star, a star is born,” Trump told an enthusiastic crowd in West Palm Beach, Florida. “Elon. He is an amazing guy.”
Trump highlighted Musk’s support for him, particularly in Pennsylvania. Musk, the world’s richest man, contributed at least $130 million to support Trump and other Republican candidates. On Tuesday night, Musk promised that his super PAC, America PAC, would continue its efforts post-election.
By around 2:30 a.m. ET, with major networks calling Pennsylvania for Trump, he was positioned close to victory, leaving Vice President Kamala Harris with almost no path to the presidency.
Senator JD Vance, Trump’s running mate, joined him on stage and called Trump’s resurgence “the greatest political comeback in American history.”
Having left office amid the aftermath of the Capitol riot, Trump is now poised to become only the second individual in U.S. history to lose the White House and then win it back.
Trump also mentioned that Republicans were likely “keeping control of the House of Representatives,” though no official projection had been made. House Speaker Mike Johnson, whom Trump praised for doing a “great job,” appeared alongside him.
Trump spoke warmly about Vance, saying, “He turned out to be a good choice. I took some heat at first, but I knew he had the smarts—some of the best out there.”
Trump wrapped up by calling on Americans to “put aside the divisions of the last four years” and promising to fulfill his campaign commitments.
