President Donald Trump revealed on Saturday that he had ordered airstrikes against ISIS positions in Somalia. The attacks, conducted by U.S. Africa Command in coordination with Somalia’s government, marked the first military action in the region under Trump’s second term. The operation aimed to eliminate key ISIS operatives and disrupt their activities.

Pentagon Confirms Multiple ISIS Fighters Killed

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed that Trump personally authorized the airstrikes, leading to the elimination of several ISIS members. According to an initial Pentagon assessment, no civilians were harmed during the operation.

Trump stated on social media that the airstrikes targeted a high-ranking ISIS planner and newly recruited fighters. He emphasized that the attacks destroyed their hideouts and neutralized multiple terrorists.

Trump Criticizes Delayed Action by Previous Administration

Trump accused the Biden administration of failing to act swiftly against ISIS threats in Somalia. “Our military has tracked this ISIS attack planner for years, but Biden and his team were too slow to respond. I took action!” he asserted.

He also issued a strong warning to terrorist groups: “WE WILL FIND YOU, AND WE WILL KILL YOU!”

Fate of Senior ISIS Leader Unclear

Trump did not specify whether the targeted ISIS planner had been killed. The White House has not yet issued an official response. Meanwhile, local reports confirmed that airstrikes occurred in Somalia’s semi-autonomous Puntland region in the northeast.
