Microsoft Resolves Most Service Outages; Some Issues Persist

Microsoft service outage issues

Microsoft has reported that it has restored the majority of its application services, including Outlook and Teams, after a significant outage on Monday morning.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) around 11 p.m. ET, the company confirmed that “functionality has been restored for all affected services, except Outlook on the web, which is still experiencing issues for a small number of users.” Microsoft also mentioned that it is continuing to investigate ongoing issues with Outlook on the web and delays in mail queueing.

The outage, which impacted services like Exchange Online and Microsoft Teams Calendar, began early on Monday morning. DownDetector, a site that tracks tech disruptions, started reporting widespread issues around 8 a.m. ET. By shortly before 11 a.m. ET, thousands of user complaints were logged, with many taking to social media to express their frustrations.

This incident follows a similar series of outages affecting Microsoft 365 users back in September.

Users Vent Frustration on Social Media

As the outage persisted, many users took to social media to share their frustrations. One user posted on X, “#Microsoft outages ruining my planned productive work day. Phone calls and handwriting may restore some order.”

Another user tweeted, “As much as I appreciate a chill work day. Microsoft, I need you guys to fix this Outlook outage. A girl is trying to push out all her work before this holiday.”

Microsoft has reassured users that it is working to resolve the remaining issues, particularly with Outlook on the web.
